On Display: Mathematicians Made Visible

July 1st-September 30th | Opening reception 7/18 & hands-on workshop 9/12! Click for details.

Mathematicians Made Visible, by artist Tracy Gillespie, is a series of block print and watercolor portraits of contemporary mathematicians created to celebrate diversity in modern mathematicians. For years, math textbooks have been filled with the images and stories of only one type of mathematician, perpetuating the idea that there is only one way for a mathematician to look. It’s time to expand upon that narrative and broaden our visual vocabulary by seeing the images and speaking about the work of the variety of mathematicians creating today’s mathematics.

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 18th, 5-7 PM | All welcome! Check out the exhibit and meet the artist.

Save The Date: Thursday, September 12th, 3-4:30 PM | Hands-on, all ages workshop with puzzles and crafts led by Tracy.
