Spring 2025 VT Humanities Reading & Discussion Series – Pilgrimage

The Friends of NPL host the Vermont Humanities Reading & Discussion series this spring.
Human beings have undertaken pilgrimages of all kinds for thousands of years. Discover a variety of journeys – and whether the seekers find what they are looking for – in these varied writings.

Books in this Series
April 1 – Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha
April 22 – Michael Wolfe, One Thousand Roads to Mecca: Ten Centuries of Travelers Writing About the Muslim Pilgrimage
June 3 – Peter Mathiessen, The Snow Leopard
June 24 – Gita Mehta, A River Sutra

Led by Suzanne H. Brown, Professor Emerita of English at Dartmouth College, the discussion group takes place here at NPL and is open to all. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 7-8:30 pm. There are a limited number of books supplied by VT Humanities, so there is a sign-up sheet at the circulation desk and books will be handed out on a first-come first-served basis.
